ABOUT US
Since its inception in 1911 as the Mercantile Cricket Competition, the MCA (Mercantile Cricket Association) has undergone remarkable development. The first-ever match, which took place between Cumberbatch SC and Liptons SC, resulted in a victory for Cumberbatch. Under the guidance of its current president, Nalin Wickremasinghe, the MCA has emerged as the foremost organization for promoting cricket in Sri Lanka. In fact, Cricket Sri Lanka has chosen it as a role model for their own tournaments.
Nalin Wickremasinghe played a key role in organizing the successful inaugural Interbank/Finance companies six-a-side competition in Galle. Additionally, he has made significant improvements to the academy's net facilities. As a testament to their progress, the academy team is scheduled to tour the United Kingdom this year to participate in an inter-academy cricket tournament.
The MCA organizes seven major tournaments and more than 500 fixtures each year, ranging from 'A' to 'G' Division matches, the Mercantile Six-a-Side tournament, the Over-40 Sixes competition, the 20x20 league, the esteemed MCA Inter Academy Invitational tournament, and the Women's Six-a-Side cricket tournament. They have invested in the infrastructure needed to ensure Sri Lankan cricket maintains its excellence.
